AliBaba's keyless and cashless hotel is straight out of the future

AliBaba’s Futuristic FlyZoo Hotel in Huangzhou, China mostly used artificial intelligence as customer service. This advance technology make works easier In this hotel, there is no check-in counter and no waiting space. Customers will check in using a kiosk in the Chinese language. Staff will help foreigners to check-in using face recognition where all the payments will be made online via AliPay. Facilities such as the elevator or checking into your room also uses face recognition. The face recognition data will only be used during the period when customers stay at the hotel, and after they have checked out, it will be deleted from the system. Next, customers can order room service using gadgets that can call in robot butlers for deliveries. However, these gadgets can only recognise the Chinese language which can cause some difficulty for foreigners. There are no cards or keys needed to access your room. They still use humans to do housekeeping for each rooms. The CEO of the hotel also clarifies that there will be no decreasing interaction between the customers and hotel staff because there are only a few parts of the job that are using technologies. Thus, artificial intelligence is an effective tool used in the service industry.

AI vs. Humans: Jeopardy!

IBM's Watson is an artificial intelligence that entered the quiz competition, 'Jeopardy!', on February 15, 2011. Watson competed against actual humans. Watson's creators has inserted a lot of knowledge into his processing system, from content found in dictionaries and even literature. Watson is designed to remember everything. However, his programmers were worried that Watson may not be able to understand the questions being asked. Despite their worries, many favoured the artificial intelligence to win the round of Jeopardy! that night.

RESULTS: Watson won against his two human competitors. This goes to show that AI can function just as well as their human counterparts in various fields. However, AI are still unable to grasp the concept unique to being human like consciousness, impulsivity and more.
